International Games Broadcast Services has been appointed as host broadcaster of next year’s Asian Games, which will take place in Jakarta and Palembang in Indonesia.
IGBS, a joint venture between the IMG agency and production company HBS, will be responsible for the entire host broadcast operation for the multi-sport event, which runs from August 18 to September 2.
IGBS was appointed to the position by the Indonesia Asian Games Organising Committee (INASGOC).
IGBS will oversee overall project management for the event, as well as full television coverage of all sports, International Broadcast Centre design and operations and associated production, broadcast venue operations, and services to rights-holding broadcasters.
The company will also handle relations with broadcasters, as well as logistics, legal, finance, HR and IT, and production of digital content for live-streaming and video-on-demand applications.
IGBS will engage regional production teams to work alongside its core team of experts, with 500 students from Indonesian universities or academies to also be selected as part of its legacy program.
The HBS broadcast academy will be responsible for organising and dispensing the training of the legacy program.
IGBS has served as the host broadcaster of the three most recent editions of the Games, stretching back to the 2006 event in Doha.
