The International Handball Federation has launched a tender process for the global media rights to its men’s and women’s events after 2017.
The tender proposes the acquisition of the global media rights for the 2019 and 2021 Men’s and Women’s World Championships. This includes the full television production of the four events and additional production obligations.
Invitations have been sent to potential buyers with the deadline for receiving offers set at September 30.
The IHF said the process has been launched in agreement with its current partner, beIN Media Group. BeIN holds a contract for the global media rights to the Men’s and Women’s World Championships of 2015 and 2017.
The 2019 Men’s World Championship will be co-hosted by Denmark and Germany, with the 2021 event heading to Egypt.
Japan will host the 2019 Women’s World Championship, with Spain staging the event in 2021.
