The IMG Media agency has signed a four-year extension, covering the 2014-15 to 2017-18 seasons, to its international rights deal for the Eredivisie, the top division of Dutch football.
IMG, which began working with the Eredivisie in 2000, will market all international media rights for the league, which was won last season by Ajax Amsterdam. The agency said it is in the process of concluding deals in every major territory.
Alex Tielbeke, director of the Eredivisie, said: “The Dutch Premier League is very pleased with the relationship we have enjoyed with IMG for many years. Their professionalism and reliability are of great importance to us. There is growing interest in the Eredivisie internationally and IMG has made an important contribution to this.”
IMG’s previous contract with the Eredivisie expired following the 2013-14 season. It was said to be worth €6m ($8.2m) per season.
In TV Sports Markets 18:6, published on March 28, it was reported that a renewal with IMG was in advanced stages.
