Telecom Italia (TIM) has defended its contentious agreement with sports subscription service and media company DAZN for the rights to Serie A, the top division of domestic club football, after Italy’s antitrust regulator, Autorità Garante della Concorrenza e del Mercato (AGCM), today (Thursday) opened an investigation into the matter.
DAZN finally secured the necessary backing of Serie A clubs in March for its rights deal worth €840m ($994.3m) per season for seven exclusive fixtures per matchweek and co-exclusive rights to three matches.
