The Lagardère Unlimited sports marketing division of media conglomerate Lagardère posted a 13.6-per-cent year-on-year fall in turnover in 2013 after a sharp fall in sales in the final quarter of the year.
Net sales for Lagardère Unlimited, which operates the Sportfive, World Sport Group and IEC in Sports agencies, fell in 2013 to €409m ($559.3m) from €470m.
In the three months through to December 31, sales fell by 28.2 per cent on a like-for-like basis, from €150m to €107m.
Lagardère said that the fall was due in part to World Sport Group’s partnership with the Asian Football Confederation continental governing body becoming a commission-based contract.
Lagardère also said that 2013 had been a quiet sporting year in comparison with 2012, with the Singapore Open golf event and the Asean Football Federation Suzuko Cup competition not taking place.
