Lega Serie B, the governing body of the second tier of Italian football, has approved guidelines for the sale of its next set of broadcast rights, while it has assessed proposals from three bidders to become its new centralised marketing advisor.
The guidelines for rights spanning the three seasons from 2018-19 to 2020-21 will now be presented to antitrust authorities ahead of a tender launch. Lega Serie B said it has formed a “flexible strategy” that can promote competition in the domestic and international markets.
Pay-television broadcaster Sky Italia is Serie B’s current domestic rights partner with its three-season deal due to expire at the end of the 2017-18 campaign.
Meanwhile, the Lega said it has assessed proposals from three agency entities seeking to become its business advisor. They are RCS Sport, along with joint proposals from Infront Sports & Media and GroupM, and Havas and PwC.
An agreement is set to be concluded at the Lega’s next shareholders meeting.
