The French Badminton Federation (FFBaD) has agreed a broadcast deal with digital-terrestrial television channel L’Équipe 21 for its staging of the sport’s 2016 European Championships.
Under the agreement, L’Équipe 21 has committed to broadcast more than 10 hours of live coverage from the event, which is being hosted in La Roche Sur Yon in the Vendée region from April 26 to May 1.
The 2016 European Championships mark France’s first staging of the event and will act as the final qualifying opportunity for the 2016 Olympic Games for the continent’s top players.
Richard Remaud, president of the FFBaD, said: “The broadcast of the European Championships on a free-to-air channel in prime time will increase the exposure of our discipline. With this partnership, badminton enters a new media age.”
