Manchester United has become the first English Premier League football club to make its in-house television channel available for free in China, according to The Times.
The UK newspaper said MUTV will be broadcast for free on the Sina Sports platform, making China the only country in the world where the channel is available without an additional subscription.
In January, the Sina Sports division of Chinese internet operator Sina acquired rights to broadcast MUTV. The channel was initially made available via Sina Sports’ websites and mobile application. The partnership marked the first time a club-dedicated channel had been made available in China.
The 24-hour MUTV channel broadcasts as-live match coverage, highlights packages, press conferences, interviews and behind-the-scenes content.
