Sports promoter Matchroom Sport has sealed a new five-year rights agreement with DAZN, the new OTT sports subscription service operated by digital media specialist Perform, and German sports broadcaster Sport1.
Under the agreement, which will run through to 2021, Matchroom’s catalogue of events will be broadcast on DAZN in Germany, Austria and Switzerland, while its leading darts events will be broadcast on Sport1 in Germany.
DAZN’s catalogue of programming comprises all live PDC darts events including the World Darts Championship, Premier League Darts and World Series of Darts; three major world pool events per year, including the Mosconi Cup match between Europe and America; Champion of Champions snooker and fishing event Fish‘O’Mania.
DAZN will also cover the World Championship of Ping Pong, Weber Cup tenpin bowling and PGA EuroPro Tour golf.
Sport1 will continue to show live free-to-air coverage of a number of the leading darts competitions including the World Darts Championship, Premier League Darts, World Matchplay and Grand Slam of Darts, as well as delayed coverage of all other Matchroom-organised competitions.
Earlier this month, Sport1 signed a content partnership with DAZN. Under the deal, the two platforms will share rights to sports properties, offering live and on-demand coverage, as well as highlights.
