McGlarry takes top job at MLB Network

Major League Baseball has confirmed the appointment of Rob McGlarry as the new president of its MLB Network pay-television service.

McGlarry is currently the executive vice-president of the MLB Network and will replace Tony Petitti, who was appointed by the league last week to replace Rob Manfred as chief operating officer when the latter succeeds long-serving commissioner Bud Selig in January.

The 46-year-old McGlarry will report to newly-appointed MLB president of business and media Bob Bowman – the former president of MLB Advanced Media.

McGlarry worked for the league from 2003 to 2008 as vice-president of broadcasting business affairs before switching to MLB Network when it launched in 2009 to serve as senior vice-president of programming and business affairs.
