Commercial broadcaster Mediaset Spain has agreed a deal with Fiba, basketball’s global governing body, to show live coverage of all remaining games at the ongoing Basketball World Cup in Spain.
Mediaset initially planned to broadcast two games per day during the group phase of the tournament, but then reached a deal with Fiba over the weekend to show six additional games this week via its Mitele.es website after more than 1,000 fans signed a petition against the broadcaster’s limited coverage of the event.
Mediaset yesterday (Wednesday) sealed a further deal to increase its coverage so that every game at the Basketball World Cup is shown live, with the additional games to be shown on Mitele.es.
Mediaset said: “Thanks to the support and cooperation of Fiba, Mitele.es will offer all Basketball World Cup games in an effort to provide fans with every minute of every game on television or on the internet.”
