Categoría Primera A, the top division of football in Colombia, is set to receive significantly enhanced exposure in the country under a partnership between pay-television channel Win Sports and telecommunications company Telefónica.
Through the deal, the NexTV LATAM website said Telefónica's over-the-top platform, Movistar Video, will provide access to Win Sports for all consumers in Colombia, regardless of whether they are existing subscribers to the service.
Operators Claro and Tigo-UNE also provide online access to Win Sports, but only to their subscribers.
Win Sports is jointly owned by pay-television broadcaster DirecTV and commercial broadcaster RCN and launched in November 2012. It holds rights to the Categoría Primera A and knockout club competition the Copa Colombia, along with rights for futsal, athletics and cycling events, among other sports.
