Movistar TV gains near-exclusive rights to Peruvian football league

Pay-television broadcaster Movistar TV has secured near-exclusive domestic rights to the 2017 season of the Torneo Descentralizado de Fútbol Profesional, the top division of Peruvian football.

The competition is officially known as the Copa Movistar due to a title sponsorship deal with the telecommunications company, with Movistar TV’s GolPeru channel to broadcast all 350 games across the summer, Apertura and Clausura tournaments.

Latina, also known as the Canal 2 channel, has reached an agreement to broadcast 54 matches from the Copa Movistar season on a free-to-air basis, starting from April 23. América TV had previously held free-to-air rights to the Copa Movistar.
