MP & Silva appointed by SBS to sell Fifa tournament rights

The MP & Silva agency has been appointed by Australian public-service broadcaster SBS to distribute the media rights in the Oceania region to events operated by football’s world governing body, Fifa, including the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.

The deal, which will run for three years, from 2012 to 2014, covers all territories in the Oceania region, excluding New Zealand.

The agency will sell rights to all 64 matches at the 2014 tournament in Brazil, as well as 45-minute daily highlights programmes and live coverage of the competition’s opening and closing ceremonies.

MP & Silva will also distribute rights to the 2013 Fifa Confederations Cup, the 2013 Fifa Beach Soccer World Cup in Tahiti and the 2012 Fifa Futsal World Cup, which starts on Thursday, November 1, in Thailand.

SBS is the media rights licensee for all events operated by Fifa, football’s world governing body, in the Oceania region for the four-year cycle from 2011 to 2014.

“Being appointed by SBS is a worthy recognition of our leadership in the market and we are very excited to use our network of broadcasters to improve audiences of international football in Oceania,” MP & Silva chief executive Andrea Radrizzani said.
