MP & Silva in ‘advanced talks’ over Ekstraklasa rights – report

The Polish football league, the Ekstraklasa, is in advanced talks with the MP & Silva agency over the rights to the top division of Polish football from the 2015-16 season, according to Polsatsport.pl.

The website said the Ekstraklasa and MP & Silva are discussing a six-year contract comprising two cycles spanning the 2015-16 to 2017-18 seasons and the 2018-19 to 2020-21 campaigns.

In April 2013, the Ekstraklasa agreed a two-year domestic rights deal with NC Plus, the pay-television platform formed through the merger of pay-television operators Cyfra Plus and N. The deal expires following the current 2014-15 season. Polsatsport.pl said an agreement with MP & Silva would guarantee Ekstraklasa clubs double the revenue they receive under the current rights deal.

Ekstraklasa spokesman Waldemar Gojtowski told the Wirtualnemedia.pl website that the league has been working on the model for its media rights from 2015-16 for several months. He added: “We talk about it with multiple partners. However, in this case, the final decision will belong with the Ekstraklasa clubs.”
