The Hong Kong Football Association has appointed the MP & Silva agency to distribute media rights in foreign territories for the governing body’s national team matches.
The agency will distribute rights to the Hong Kong national team’s international games across cable, satellite and terrestrial television, as well as to betting, online, IPTV and mobile platforms.
The length of the deal has not been disclosed, but the rights include Hong Kong’s qualifying matches for the 2015 Asian Cup against Uzbekistan, the UAE and Vietnam.
“Distributing rights abroad is a positive initiative for the Hong Kong Football Association,” the governing body’s chief executive, Mark Sutcliffe, said. “MP & Silva has a strong football distribution franchise in both Asia and abroad and we know they are well placed to distribute our media rights in agreed markets. Through the initial package of matches, we are very excited by the prospect of reaching out to international fans and commercial partners of Hong Kong football.”
Andrea Radrizzani, MP & Silva’s chief executive, added: “We have been extremely successful in the last five years in distributing football rights in Asia and I’m glad to use our network of clients and partners to boost Hong Kong’s football internationally.”
