Multi-territory commercial and pay-television broadcaster Modern Times Group has extended an agreement for exclusive rights in the Nordic region to Germany’s Handball-Bundesliga.
The six-season deal runs until 2023 and covers Denmark, Finland, Norway and Sweden.
MTG’s Viasat television channels and Viaplay streaming service will show coverage of up to three live matches per week as part of the agreement. The deal has been signed ahead of the start of the 2017-18 season on Thursday.
Viasat and Viaplay will also show the three Final Four matches in the DHB-Pokal knockout tournament, as well as the Super Cup and the annual All-Star Game, which is contested by the league’s top players and Germany’s national team.
MTG’s handball portfolio also includes rights to the EHF Cup and EHF Champions League club competitions, as well as the men’s and women’s editions of the European Championships.
