MTG weighs in with Mayweather-Pacquiao rights

Modern Times Group, the multi-territory commercial and pay-television broadcaster, has secured the exclusive Nordic rights to the highly anticipated boxing bout between Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manny Pacquiao.

The two men considered the best pound-for-pound fighters in the sport will contest the WBC, WBA and WBO welterweight championships at Las Vegas’ MGM Grand Garden Arena on May 2.

MTG will make the fight available on a pay-per-view basis through its Viasat satellite platform and its online streaming service Viaplay in Norway, Denmark and Finland. In Sweden the bout will be available on Viaplay.

Peter Nørrelund, MTG head of sports, said: “This will certainly be the highest grossing fight ever. Using PPV was the only way to bring it to the screens of Nordic viewers. It will be broadly available so all boxing fans can take part in the once in a lifetime experience.”

MTG also has the option of selling the event as PPV on other pay-television platforms in Sweden, Norway, Denmark and Finland.
