North America’s NBA basketball league has announced plans to expand virtual reality coverage of games through its partnership with broadcast technology company NextVR.
The two parties will work together to offer this weekend’s All-Star Saturday Night contest and NBA All-Star Game in virtual reality. Highlights of both events will also be available to view in VR.
The service will be available through the NBA League Pass subscription service to fans around the world, with the exception of Canada, China and the US.
In addition, from February 23, NextVR will offer live VR coverage of regular-season games. Fans can access the service with an NBA League Pass subscription or a ‘Single Game Pass’.
NextVR coverage will enable fans to switch between a fixed court-side view of the game and a produced feed through multiple camera angles.
Virtual-reality coverage of all games can be viewed using a Google Daydream View or Samsung Gear VR headset.
