The 2016 edition of the NBA Global Games in London will be screened live in 31 cinemas across the UK after the Odeon group agreed a deal with the National Basketball Association.
Odeon branches in England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales will broadcast the game, which pits the Orlando Magic against the Toronto Raptors and takes place at London’s O2 Arena on January 14.
Pay-television broadcaster BT Sport holds rights to the NBA in the UK and will be airing the encounter on its BT Sport 1 and BT Sport Showcase channels, the latter of which is available for free via the digital-television service Freeview.
“Live entertainment is hugely popular with our guests and the NBA is a fantastic addition to our line-up,” Ian Shepherd, group chief commercial officer at Odeon & UCI Cinemas Group, said.
This month’s event will mark the sixth regular-season NBA game to be staged in London.
