Regional US broadcaster NBC Bay Area, operated by the NBCUniversal media company, has agreed to show at least 400 hours of programming per year dedicated to the San Francisco 49ers as part of a broad agreement with the NFL American football franchise.
The agreement will run for 10 years, from 2014-15 to 2023-24.
As the ‘official broadcast partner’ of the 49ers, NBC Bay Area will show practice sessions, exclusive interviews, game-day programming and content from the team’s archive. The channel will also show magazine programmes 49ers Way and The Faithful.
The deal is part of an arrangement under which the Comcast SportsNet Bay Area media division of NBCUniversal will establish a dedicated studio and introduce a number of technological innovations – such as access to video-on-demand platforms for fans – at Levi Stadium, which will open as the new home of the 49ers later this year.
