NBC reveals network coverage plans for NHL All-Star Game

US media company NBCUniversal has announced it will broadcast live coverage of the NHL North American ice hockey league’s 2017 All-Star Game on the NBC network.

The game was due to be shown by the company's NBC Sports Network sports broadcasting arm, but NBC will now televise coverage to a wider audience.

The All-Star Game has not appeared on network television since 2004, when ABC broadcast the event. NBC previously televised the game from 1990 to 1994.

Last season’s All-Star Game on NBCSN was the most-watched edition of the event since the sports broadcaster acquired rights prior to the 2005-06 season.

The 2017 NHL All-Star Game will take place at Staples Center in Los Angeles, California, on January 29.
