NBCU expands FIS World Cup coverage

US media company Universal Sports Network has renewed and expanded a rights deal for European International Ski Federation (FIS) World Cup events.

The deal with the European Broadcasting Union consortium of free-to-air broadcasters will run for two years, covering the 2015-16 to 2016-17 seasons.

Under the agreement, pay-television broadcasters Universal Sports and NBC Sports Network will broadcast all Austria-based World Cup events.

In addition to extensive live and delayed coverage of all Austrian Alpine Skiing World Cups on Universal Sports, the agreement will also enable NBC Sports Network to broadcast the World Cups in Kitzbühel and Schladming for the first time ever.

This agreement follows the extension last year of the deal between the Austrian Ski Association and the EBU for worldwide rights until the end of the 2017-18 season.
