Nent acquires host of European women’s football

Nordic Entertainment (Nent) Group has acquired rights in the Nordic region to the top-tier women’s football leagues in England, France and Germany; two Uefa Euro 2021 qualifiers; and French champions Olympique Lyonnais’ home matches in the 2019-20 Uefa Women’s Champions League.

Nent will broadcast at least 50 matches from England’s Women’s Super League and up to 60 matches from Germany’s Frauen-Bundesliga for the next three seasons, from 2019-20 to 2021-22.

It will broadcast 22 matches from France’s Division 1 Féminine, along with the finals from the women’s French Cup and Super Cup, for the next two seasons. In 2019-20, Nent will also hold rights to four Uefa Champions League matches of current French and European champions Olympique Lyonnais Féminin.

Norwegian star and 2018 Ballon d’Or Féminin winner Ada Hegerberg currently plays for Lyon.

Alongside club competitions, Nent has also announced the acquisition of the rights to two Uefa Women’s Euro 2021 qualifying matches; Sweden against Latvia in September, and Norway against Belarus in October.

All matches will be shown across the Nordics (Denmark, Finland, Norway and Sweden) on Nent’s streaming service Viaplay, with select matches said to be on its free-to-air channels.
