Swedish media company Nordic Entertainment Group (Nent Group) has agreed a three-season extension to its rights deal in Sweden, Denmark and Norway for the Formula One motor-racing championship.
Nent Group, under its previous guise of Modern Times Group, has held F1 rights in the Nordic region since 2005 and its new deal will cover the 2019, 2020 and 2021 seasons.
The exclusive agreement with Formula One will offer fans every practice session, qualifying session and race live on a combination of Nent Group’s Viaplay streaming service and its free-to-air and pay-television channels.
Nent Group said it will also collaborate with Formula One on its new OTT subscription service, F1 TV. The new platform launched for last month’s Spanish Grand Prix and is set to be offered by Nent Group from the start of the 2019 season at the latest.
Today’s (Wednesday’s) announcement comes after NENT Group yesterday secured the exclusive Nordic media rights to the International Handball Federation’s World Championship until 2025 and the European Handball Federation’s European Championship until 2026.
Nent Group also extended its rights to the EHF Champions League, European Handball League and the EHF Cup until 2023.
