Pay-television broadcaster Neo Sports acquired exclusive rights for this year’s Sultan Azlan Shah Cup, the men’s national team field hockey tournament organised by the Malaysian Hockey Confederation.
The tournament started last Thursday. The national teams from India, Pakistan, Argentina, Great Britain, New Zealand, South Korea, and hosts Malaysia are taking part.
Prasana Krishnan, chief operating officer at Neo Sports, said: “Hockey, with a tremendous pan-national following, is a definite focus sport for Neo. Post the overwhelming success of World Series hockey, with unprecedented TV tune-ins, it was a logical step to strengthen our offering in India’s national sport by acquiring marquee international properties.”
Krishnan said the acquisition bolstered the broadcaster’s summer offering this year, particularly in conjunction with its acquisitions of French Open tennis and Uefa Euro 2012 football rights.
