The NFL this week launched a new skill for Amazon Alexa devices that will teach fans about players, rules and the history of American football.
The skill, known as The Rookie’s Guide to the NFL, is designed to help casual fans better understand the sport, including terminology, and has access to over 1,000 terms and pieces of trivia.
It was created by NFL’s Digital Lab, which develops technology to improve the fan experience.
“The idea was what if we created kind of a decoder that while you’re watching the game you could just ask the NFL anything you wanted to know about football,” said Dan Hogan, vice president of engineering, media services for the NFL.
The skill also includes an NFL podcast called Game Plan, which includes match previews, with insight and predictions for upcoming fixtures.
