NFL’s Ravens extend with local rights partner

WBAL, a regional affiliate of US media group NBCUniversal, has extended a local rights deal with NFL American football franchise the Baltimore Ravens.

Although terms of the deal were not disclosed, the Baltimore Sun newspaper reported that the agreement will run for six seasons, from 2017 to the end of 2022.

WBAL-TV 11 will continue to serve as the broadcast partner of the team’s Raven Productions arm for pre-season games and three weekly programs during the regular season.

The deal marks the second extension since the two parties began a partnership in 2006. The previous agreement had been due to expire after the 2016 season.

WBAL is owned by Hearst Broadcasting.
