Social media platform Twitter has agreed a deal to live stream matches from US ice hockey competition the National Women’s Hockey League.
Twitter will stream coverage of 16 regular-season matches during the 2017-18 campaign. The ‘Twitter NWHL Game of the Week’ schedule will be announced in September.
The agreement also includes live streaming of the 2018 All-Star Game and two matches from the NWHL/Team Russia Summit Series.
The global live streams, which will be available free-of-charge to fans around the world, will also include advertising packages and ad spots.
In addition, the NWHL will work with Twitter on marketing efforts to help promote the live streams.
NWHL commissioner Dani Rylan said: “This is a big and important step forward for our league as we approach our third season.”
