The International Olympic Committee’s Olympic Channel has launched its first virtual reality (VR) digital series ahead of the 2018 winter Olympic Games in Pyeongchang, South Korea.
The ‘Trending Gold’ multi-part series began yesterday (Thursday) and is now available to fans around the world via the Olympic Channel website and mobile applications.
Focusing on athletes’ preparations for the Games, Trending Gold is the Olympic Channel’s first original series and content is to be filmed entirely in 360-degree VR.
The series also includes immersive content such as 360-degree video, behind-the-scenes footage and other short-form videos.
US snowboarder Jamie Anderson (pictured), Swiss alpine ski star Luca Aerni and Korean short track speed skating duo Ye Jin Kim and Dae Heon Hwang will be among the athletes to feature.
Episodes will be available to view on any major VR headset system, as well as the Jaunt mobile app.
