The International Olympic Committee’s newly-launched Olympic Channel will cover this year’s Paralympic Games, which got underway in Rio de Janeiro yesterday (Wednesday).
The channel will provide daily coverage of the Games, with around 300 hours of live action to be streamed over the next 10 days. The coverage will be accessible in 162 territories.
The coverage also includes highlights, behind-the-scenes features, interviews and the Games’ closing ceremony on September 18. The IOC will work with the International Paralympic Committee to deliver the coverage.
The Olympic Channel launched following the conclusion of the closing ceremony of the Rio 2016 Olympics on August 21.
Last week it was confirmed that 37 events across 10 different sports would be broadcast live on the channel before the end of 2016, with coverage having started on September 1 with a men’s ice hockey qualifying tournament for the 2018 winter Olympics in Pyeongchang, South Korea.
The channel is available as a mobile application around the world on Android and iOS devices, as well as online via olympicchannel.com.
