US pay-television broadcaster One World Sports has extended and expanded its partnership with the New York Cosmos football club.
The Cosmos’ home games for the 2014 North American Soccer League spring season will be broadcast by One World Sports in the New York, Hawaii and Iowa markets.
Cosmos chief operating officer Erik Stover said: “With our games this season on both Cablevision’s Optimum TV and Verizon, this allows us to reach even more of our fans in the tri-state area.”
In June 2013, One World Sports acquired rights to Cosmos games in a move that marked the network’s first entry into the domestic sports rights market.
The Cosmos returned to the field for the first time in nearly three decades in August 2013 after it was announced in July 2012 that the team would join the NASL.
On April 13, the Cosmos will kick off the defence of the team’s championship title in the season opener against the Atlanta Silverbacks.
