Outdoor Channel strikes X Games, IndyCar deal with ESPN

Outdoor Channel, the pan-Asian sports broadcaster, has struck a multi-year deal with international sports broadcaster ESPN to show the IndyCar motor-racing series and the X Games action sports events across Southeast Asia.

The deal for the X Games covers the series’ events in Austin and Aspen in the US.

Under the agreement, Outdoor Channel will also jointly promote the events across Southeast Asia.

The deal covers Brunei, Cambodia, Hong Kong, Indonesia, India, Korea, Laos, Malaysia, Maldives, Mongolia, Myanmar, Papua New Guinea, Pakistan, Palau, Philippines, Sri Lanka, Singapore, Thailand, Taiwan and Vietnam.

Gregg Creevey, managing director of Outdoor Channel’s parent company, Multi Channels Asia, said that he hoped this deal with ESPN would be the first of “many collaborations in Asia-Pacific.”
