Outdoor sports broadcaster Outside Television has expanded its reach in the US market by agreeing a multi-year carriage deal with pay-television provider Dish Network.
Under the deal, Dish will initially make the channel available as a free preview to its 14 million subscribers through to May 6. After that, Outdoor will be added to Dish’s Multi-Sport Pack tier.
Outside said it is currently available in 30 million homes through carriage deals with the likes of Xfinity, Cox Cable and Google Fiber. The free preview launches in time to include Outside Television’s coverage of sailing’s Volvo Ocean Race.
“We’ve partnered with Outside Television to take our customers directly into the action of extreme outdoor sports,” Josh Clark, Dish’s vice-president of programming, said. “We are expanding our lineup of active outdoor lifestyle programming and unconventional sports coverage from mountaineering to BASE jumping and kitesurfing.”
