Portuguese club denies Benfica TV deal

Second-tier Portuguese football club Academico Viseu has denied reports that it has agreed to sell its media rights to Benfica TV, the basic-tier channel that is operated by Benfica, the most popular football club in the country.

Academico said that the reports in the national and local media of a deal for the media rights, as part of a broader partnership involving the exchange of players between the two clubs, had “no basis.”

Academico said it was continuing to study various proposals from possible broadcast partners.
