Premiership Rugby, the governing body of the top division of English rugby union, has extended and expanded its partnership with digital sports media group Perform.
The new five-year deal will see Perform continue to manage Premiership Rugby Productions. Perform currently produces up to 66 Premiership Rugby games each season, as well as highlights and clips for global distribution.
As part of an expanded agreement, every Premiership Rugby and Premiership Rugby 7s game will also be broadcast live globally through the Perform Sports Cloud service. Many Anglo-Welsh Cup games will also be transmitted via the service.
Enhanced production values across all Perform-produced outside broadcasts will be introduced through the new agreement. This includes on-site graphics and commentary to ensure every match is available worldwide for broadcasters, and also helps to produce UK pay-television broadcaster BT Sport’s extended highlights show.
Digital and social media content output will also increase with the extended agreement, with IP broadcast services provision through the Perform Sports Cloud another element of the renewal.
“This investment in content creation for Aviva Premiership Rugby, the Anglo-Welsh Cup and the Singha Premiership Rugby 7s has enabled us to deliver quality content to television channels and digital platforms all over the world,” Dominic Hayes, commercial director of Premiership Rugby, said.
“This is integral to the expansion of the global reach of Premiership Rugby, delivering live and highlights content not only on BT Sport in the UK and NBC in America but in 200 markets, reaching more than 175 million households around the world.”
