Italian state broadcaster Rai has acquired rights for the Formula E electric car-racing world championship.
The deal will run for two seasons, from 2015-16 to 2016-17.
Rai will provide pre-race and live coverage plus highlights from practice and qualifying sessions, podium celebrations and post-race interviews.
Carlos Paris, the head of sport at Rai, said: “Motorsport plays such a big part of the Italian sporting culture and we look forward to showing an innovative and exciting new series such as Formula E to a wider audience.”
The series, which is operated by the FIA, motorsport’s global governing body, said that further rights deals would be announced in the coming weeks.
