Digital media service provider RR Media has launched a new online platform targeted at sports organisations.
Developed in partnership with interactive video solutions provider Pi Telecom, the service will provide users with access to various free and subscription-based premium content on any screen and device.
RR Media said users can access and watch on-demand and exclusive content and services from sports federations, leagues, teams, broadcasters, channels and media rights agencies. This content includes official on demand and live streaming content channels; archive content such as classic matches; premium highlights and feature interviews; multi-lingual content; and services such as merchandise and ticketing and accessing social media.
The platform is already being used by Spanish LaLiga football club Barcelona for its Game Pass service, which offers users the ability to watch the team’s matches on demand, along with providing exclusive content about the players.
Elad Manishviz, chief marketing officer of RR Media, said: “This joint solution gives sports customers a highly flexible and scalable platform to broaden the reach and availability of premium sports content to worldwide audiences, enriching viewers’ experience and generating new revenues. It offers us an effective way of bridging the gap between the traditional broadcast world and new digital media capabilities.”
The new service can be offered as a fully managed service, where RR Media takes full responsibility for the management of the platform, or alternatively as a white label offering.
