Portuguese public-service broadcaster RTP has acquired rights for the 2018 winter Olympic Games, which get underway today (Friday) in Pyeongchang.
The sublicensing deal with media and entertainment company Discovery Communications also covers the 2020 summer Olympics in Tokyo. The deal was first reported in TV Sports Markets last week.
RTP will broadcast more than 200 hours of action from the Games, with a particular focus on the Portuguese athletes. RTP will also show the opening and closing ceremonies and a daily highlights programme.
For the first time, Portugal will have two representatives at the Games: Alpine skier Arthur Hanse (pictured) and cross-country skier Kequyen Lam.
