Second round of bidding for Premier League rights in France

The sales process for the next cycle of rights to the English Premier League, the top division of football in England, has entered a second round of bidding in France, according to French newspaper l’Equipe.

The report said that the league had informed pay-television broadcasters Canal Plus and beIN Sport on Monday that they must submit new bids by midday local time in France on Thursday, January 31.

Both broadcasters submitted bids by the original deadline of January 22.

The rights will cover three seasons, from 2013-14 to 2015-16.

The newspaper added that Canal Plus pays €24 million ($32.2 million) per year for the rights in the current cycle.
