Lega Serie A and the Infront Sports & Media agency will launch a new IPTV platform on August 22 broadcasting games from the top division of Italian football, according to il Fatto Quotidiano.
The Italian newspaper said the new platform will be called Serie A TV and will exploit the rights that were left unsold in the domestic rights tender spanning the 2015-16 to 2017-18 seasons.
Package E comprised OTT, internet and mobile rights for three matches per weekend, with Lega Serie A and Infront, the league’s adviser for media rights sales, seeking €109m ($120.1m) per year for the rights.
Serie A TV would broadcast live the league’s best match on Saturday, as well as games on Sunday morning and afternoon, according to il Fatto Quotidiano.
