Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) secretary Jay Shah believes India has witnessed a “digital revolution” after the value of digital rights to the Indian Premier League (IPL) surpassed the value of linear rights.

Shah told cricket website Cricbuzz that last week’s IPL media rights auction, which saw the BCCI garner INR48,390.32 crore ($6.2bn/€5.9bn) over five years, from 2023 to 2027, was a landmark moment in the rise of digital media and downplayed concerns over having separate digital and linear rights-holders.
