UK pay-television broadcaster BSkyB has apologised after thousands of people who were trying out its Now TV internet television service for the first time were unable to access to live coverage of the Manchester United v Manchester City English Premier League match on Monday evening.
Now TV said that refunds would be made to those who paid for a £9.99 (€11.75/$15.28) day pass to all six of the Sky Sports channels, while 5,000 viewers using promotional passes would be given new passes to try out the service in the future.
“Due to unforeseen technical issues, some customers were unable to watch Now TV… including a number of Sky Sports day-pass holders,” a Sky spokesperson told the ThisIsMoney news website. “We’ve apologised to affected customers and are currently processing appropriate refunds and goodwill gestures. We continue to investigate the underlying technical issue as a matter of urgency.”
