Sky claims world-first with British Masters coverage

UK pay-television broadcaster Sky has claimed a world first for golf coverage by introducing a live player microphone service during the ongoing British Masters tournament.

The resurrected British Masters commenced yesterday (Thursday) and Nick Dougherty is wearing a microphone during the tournament through which he will speak directly to Sky Sports commentators at various points during play.

Sky has committed to over 30 hours of coverage across all four days of the tournament at Woburn Golf Club. Sky Sports is also serving as a presenting sponsor of a European Tour event for the first time.

Jason Wessely, Sky Sports head of golf, said: “Our aim is to take the coverage further and engage with viewers in new and exciting ways, to showcase a fantastic event which is back on the calendar.”
