German pay-television broadcaster Sky Deutschland has revealed plans to build a new sports broadcast centre next to its corporate headquarters.
‘The Cube’ will feature two studios and an additional new space dedicated to coverage of the country’s Bundesliga top-tier club football competition.
Sky Deutschland also said that the new facility will lead to the creation of 40 new full-time jobs, as well as up to 80 freelance roles.
Although financial details of the project were not fully disclosed, the broadcaster said that the investment in the facility would run into at least €10m ($11m).
Construction work on the site in Unterföhring, near Munich, is due to commence next week.
Earlier this month, Sky Deutschland picked up a host of domestic rights packages for the next cycle of rights to the Bundesliga.
The broadcaster secured packages B to G, which cover the Bundesliga, second-tier 2.Bundesliga and the Supercup knockout competition for four seasons, from 2017-18 to 2020-21.
