UK pay-television broadcaster Sky Sports has announced details of a new weekly basketball show to support its coverage of the NBA during the 2019-20 season.
The 30-minute show will discuss the biggest talking points from the NBA and will broadcast on Tuesday evenings on Sky Sports’ YouTube channel before airing on television.
Sky has also announced that it will broadcast a record number of primetime games this season, with over 170 fixtures in total. Forty-eight of these games will get underway between 6pm and 11pm UK time on Saturday and Sunday evenings.
Sky will broadcast up to five live games per week and its 2019-20 coverage began in the early hours of this (Wednesday) morning with the Toronto Raptors’ 130-122 win over the New Orleans Pelicans. Its coverage will also include the NBA All-Star 2020, the NBA playoffs and the Finals.
Sky will also air five back-to-back games on Christmas Day and three on Martin Luther King Day on January 20, as well as the Charlotte Hornets’ game against the Milwaukee Bucks in Paris on January 24.
Additionally, Sky subscribers will receive access to NBA TV content such as preview show ‘The Warmup’. Sky will also air one-off specials including a 90-minute film celebrating the Raptors first-ever NBA title win last season.
Sky acquired exclusive NBA rights in the UK last October in a deal that runs until the end of the 2021-22 season. It replaced rival pay-television broadcaster BT Sport in the role.
