Pay-television broadcaster Sky New Zealand has agreed a three-season extension to its rights deal for the Superbike World Championship (WorldSBK) motorcycling series.
The agreement, spanning the 2016 to 2018 seasons, was struck with the series’ commercial rights holder, Dorna WSBK.
Sky New Zealand will show every race and Superpole session of WorldSBK and its WorldSSP support series. The broadcaster will also provide coverage of the European Junior Cup competition.
Manel Arroyo, managing director of television and media at Dorna Sports, said: “Our new era of WorldSBK begins soon and it all starts in the southern hemisphere so to have broadcast partners like Sky NZ is incredibly important to us. This renewal means WorldSBK will continue to grow even further with the help of Sky’s expansive experience and knowledge in the broadcasting of motorcycle racing.”
The 2016 WorldSBK season gets underway at the Phillip Island Circuit in Victoria, Australia on February 26.
