Sky NZ to show US Masters and trio of amateur events

Pay-television broadcaster Sky New Zealand is to broadcast the Masters, golf’s first major of the year.

The broadcaster has announced that it will air the 2020 tournament, which runs from April 9 to 12 at Augusta National Golf Club in Georgia.

In addition, Sky will broadcast a trio of amateur events associated with Augusta National, namely the Augusta National Women’s Amateur, the Asia-Pacific Amateur Championship and the Latin America Amateur Championship.

For the first time, Sky will broadcast the Asia-Pacific Amateur Championship live when it takes place this week at the El Camaleón Golf Course in Mayakoba, Mexico and with a place at the Masters on offer for the winner.

Sky recently extended its rights to golf’s LPGA Tour from 2020 to 2024 in an agreement covering up to 32 LPGA tournaments each year. The pay-television broadcaster also came on board as the presenting sponsor of the New Zealand Open, a tournament that forms part of the broadcaster’s golf programming schedule.

Last year, Sky secured rights agreements with the likes of the domestic National Basketball League, Commonwealth Games, Netball New Zealand, New Zealand Rugby and the International Cricket Council.
