UK pay-television broadcaster Sky is to rebrand its 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 sports channels with names that focus on specific sports, while it will also launch a new cheaper subscription package.
Following the rebranding process, there will be two dedicated channels for football, one for golf and one for cricket, as well as the existing Sky Sports F1 channel. A new channel, Sky Sports Arena, will offer rugby and tennis programming.
The Sky Sports Mix channel, which is available to view for free for Sky customers who do not have a sports subscription, will also be retained.
At £18 per month (€20.30/$23.09), the new basic subscription package will be considerably cheaper than Sky’s current £49.50-per-month basic sports package.
