Sky to dedicate entire channel to Ryder Cup

UK pay-television broadcaster BSkyB is to dedicate one of its Sky Sports channels to coverage of the 2014 Ryder Cup golf tournament.

The broadcaster’s Sky Sports 4 channel will be renamed Sky Sports Ryder Cup from September 18 until October 2.

The channel will broadcast 330 hours of golf, including 36 hours of live coverage from the 2014 Ryder Cup at Gleneagles in Perthshire, Scotland.

Additional programming will include preview shows, coverage of the opening and closing ceremonies, interviews and various feature programmes.

Free wireless internet at Gleneagles will allow Sky Sports subscribers and non-subscribers at the course to access the channel free-of-charge via the broadcaster’s Sky Go video-on-demand service and its internet television service Now TV.

The 2014 Ryder Cup will take place from September 26-28.
